Reviews to Salaam Bombay
Anyone that I bring to Salaam Bombay or have take out loves the food. These are my recommendations:
- Jhinge Bagharia (shrimp appetizer)
- Chicken Tikka Masala
- Aloo Gabi
- Onion or garlic naam
- Raita
- Gajar Halwa (from the desert menu but very nice to have with dinner... it's shredded carrot and coconut)
Dessert: Rice pudding... either of them
The staff are very friend. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and it's pretty clean.
Enjoy!

Food was disgusting. It was worst Indian food we had. Starters were too oily. Curry with spinach gravy was worst. Paneer handi had more bell paper and onion itself than paneer & gravy. Naan and kulcha was without oil or butter and was very dry(we didn't ask for without butter). Interior is good.

Amazing food! How is this place so little known? My husband and I stumbled across this place on our way back to our car amongst the other restaurants on Greenwich. It had absolutely phenomenal food and prices that weren't $35 a plate. We both got one of their curry dishes, and their spicy shrimp app and was not disappointed. The service was really good and there was great attention to detail.. What baffled me was the place was almost completely dead on a Saturday night? Am I missing something? Or do ppl just not like Indian food? You guys are missing out!

Upon entering Saalam Bombay I noticed how dingy it appeared, brought on by the lack of lights in the deserted areas of the restaurant. I was somewhat reluctant to venture further but was spurred on by my partner who insisted that we try something new. We were greeted by a friendly waiter and seated by the window, which did nicely to set the mood, away from my first impression of it being dingy
I wasn't too impressed by the cleanliness of the table ware and set out to ask for new ones. We started with a few appetizers and was delighted at the delicious flavors that engulfed our pallets. At this point I was ready for the main course, meanwhile my partner continued to reassure me that this was a new experience and that I needed to keep an open mind.
The chicken Tikki Masala I ordered was truly delicious, with the exception of having to order rice and naan separately I was satisfied with my overall order. Would I return to this restaurant again? maybe.

This is the worst Indian food I've had in 30 years of living in Manhattan. On March 20, a friend and I ordered takeout: the saag- pea soup, the Bombay mixer("fine shreds of onions, carrots & bell pepper tossed w/ chickpeas, bean sprouts & homemade cheese, served w/ a lemon dressing)" chicken biryani, and the murg malai kebab (chicken). We tried to order the Goan fish curry but fifteen minutes after placing the order they called back to say they had no fish besides salmon so they persuaded us to substitute the murg malai kebab. We ought to have cancelled the order right then. it took 90 MINUTES for the food to arrive - admittedly it was a snowy night - and when it did, it was all luke warm and mainly inedible. The murg malai kebab was disgusting looking and very bland. The soup was tasteless. The Bombay mixer was huge slices of carrot and cucumber scattered over a bed of straight out of the can chickpeas, with no trace of bean sprouts or cheese. The only edible part of the meal was the chicken biryani, which at least rose to school cafeteria level. The prices were cheap, yes, but we threw out all the food without being able to eat more than a few bites of anything. Must to avoid!
