I just moved to the area and was given the gift of a spa day from my Fiance as a graduation present. We invited our good friend to come with us as he has never had a pedicure, but had been interested in one. I did a lot of research prior and found this spa. I read all the reviews here and got a little scared by some of them, but I brushed them aside because the positives outweighed the negatives.
I clicked on the link that was found here for their website and I searched through it. I stumbled upon the Specials section and was delighted to see a package for a spa manicure and spa pedicure for $40 that was only available on Thursdays! I was excited and my boyfriend called to make the appointment for us on the upcoming Thursday, however when we got there we were told that they did not have us down at the time that he had scheduled. They scheduled us for a few weeks later! So after talking to Marlene she told us to come back in an hour and they would squeeze us in which was very nice of her to offer. I even asked her about the $40 Thursday special as she wrote us in the book and she seemed to understand as she penciled it in.
Once we got to our chairs I was given cold water in my foot bath and when I asked for hot water they turned it on for a short moment and then said they couldn't fill it anymore before walking to grab some things. I decided not to bother asking again and tried to relax before my spa attendant started to be very rough and did not listen when I said that it hurt when she tried to rip the skin on my toes off or when the gel near the end was burning hot! She just pushed it harder onto my foot and grabbed the other one! I understand that maybe she couldn't understand me well, but I feel that she should learn to know the signs of pain and when to stop. My feet still hurt today!
Then while I waited for my toe nails to dry she asked me if I needed a manicure and I said yes and that it was the spa manicure. In reply to this she groaned and said something along the lines of What? You need manicure too? and then she sighed and went to get her things together. My manicure was even worse! I was given many cuts on both my hands and the nail polish was not done very well. The attendant even started what I assumed to be complaining about me. I heard a few words and she kept gesturing and rolling her eyes at me. I was very dissatisfied with her attitude.
Then when it became time to pay I was told that the $40 deal did not exist anymore! I showed them the webpage and another girl called the manager who then told her that the deal was from LAST YEAR and that she updated the page with the prices. I was also told that the manicure was much more expensive than their website stated! I argued, but soon gave up as I realized they probably couldn't understand why I was mad. The prices on their wall were the supposed old price as well! They should really update their website and spa menu in store so that new customer's like me will not get robbed.
My friend luckily got the better attendant who took her time and payed attention to his demands. At least until it was time to have our nails painted. At the beginning we told them both that we will be doing our nails the same purple and blue color, but when it came time for his the woman asked him if he wanted the clear polish and then both attendants started laughing when he said he wanted the blue one. They then spoke to each other in Spanish and kept gesturing to him! My friend was humiliated, but kept quiet about his discomfort. She then hastily painted his nails and you can see many spots that were missed.
I am very disappointed in my visit to this establishment and I do not think that I will be returning. I do not recommend it to anyone, but you may have a much better experience if you speak and/or understand Spanish.
