This is a very welcoming congregation that is made up of all types of people, young at heart and young in years, single, straight, divorced, married, gay and lesbian, white black, latino(a)....This congregation purposefully seeks to welcome those who have been made to feel unwelcome elsewhere. St. Mark's is an Episcopal Church. It is often described as the "bridge church" because it includes both the Roman Catholic and Protestant traditions. The Episcopal Church teaches that morality is positive, rather than negative. It is rooted in Jesus' summary of the law: "to love God with heart, mind and soul and to love ones neighbor as oneself." The focus of Christian morality is not on laws and restrictions but on free and mature response to God's love and in responsibility to our neighbors.God loves everyone without exception and so we are called to do likewise. The central focus of the Sunday liturgy or worship is around the Eucharist ( communion) which is the presence of Jesus Christ in the elements of bread and wine. Word and Sacrament are central to the worshiper. This is a very warm and welcoming place, filled with the Holy Spirit!
