worse place to buy a car. PERIOD. my boyfriend and I decided to get a older model used car to drive around in so I could get back and forth to work and so we would not add so much mileage to another car we have. My boyfriend visited this place because the cars were affordable and they had a older model vehicle he was looking for. 4 days after purchasing the car the check engine light came on. I took the car to auto zone to have it check and was told the catalyst converter needed to be changed. I immediately took the car back to the dealer and asked him what we would do about it. He (the mechanic whom is also the owners son) said that he did not trust auto zone's reading and did his own. he said there was nothing wrong with the catalyst converter and that the 0-2 sensors needed to be changed. he told me he would pick the parts up and asked when I could bring the car back. over the course of a week and a half I went back and forth to the dealership so this could be taken care of. during this time we wee riding around with temp plates. on the car. we stopped in again to find out about the perm plates because the temp plates were about to expire. no one seemed to know anything until the owner came from the back and said he had picked them up. my boyfriend and I were upset because no one called or tried to contact us at all to tell us to come pick up the plates.
this same day the mechanic said he had to go to the hospital to get his finger checked out because he thinks he had an infection. over the course of another 2 weeks my boyfriend called and called to find out when the car would be fixed because now we need to get the car inspected. I popped up again for the thousandth time and was told it could be done on Friday, not realizing that the inspection had to be done by Friday. so we called back and asked if it could be done Thursday. we were told it could and as early as I could I took the car. when I got there the mechanic was not there and when he did show up he did not look to take care of my car which is being paid for and whose money you have had for over a month, but the person who just purchased their car. after seeing this and being fed up, I gave the mechanic a 2 hour window to fix the car. he told me he would not do it and I said ok I will take it somewhere else and send them the bill. he told me that they would not pay. after trying to cool off a little bit, I went inside the office and requested to speak with the owner. the owner came out the back office loud but I ignored it because I felt it didn't have anything to do with me. I tried to address my issue with him, then his daughter in law cut in and they began yelling at me. I stayed calm most of the conversation until he tried to brush me off and then it became a screaming match. he told me he would call the police and have me escorted off his property. I requested that he call them as well which he never did. I waited in the office for about 10 minutes and no policemen showed up. I then waited in front of the dealership for another 10 minutes and still no police. so I decided to leave and go to the police station myself. needless to say this is far from over.
my advice to anyone looking to buy a car. even though the prices are somewhat reasonable, no one should be given the run around and treated the way I was trying to address an issue. technically the car should have never been able to leave the lot if it could not pass inspection.
