Horribly unorganized communication methods, with more focus on "procedure" than quality of results of the litigation process. I received on average 310 emails every day and was expected to keep up with them all. I was let-go because I was "not getting how RVM likes to email people". The quality of my work never came up in that final meeting.
Dysfunctional management. No attempts made by management to correct mistakes made by their employees (at least, not for me), even if employee requests 1-on-1 progress report meetings for means of self-improvement (which I did, three-four times. Only one meeting ever occurred). "Sink-or-swim" mentality. High anxiety among many project managers.
Borderline unethical treatment of their employees. I knew one guy there who worked 60+ hours a week. This is because he is very good at his job and others who are on his skill level quit and find something better ASAP.
And this is in part due to their salary is well below both eDiscovery average. My initial offer was so insultingly low that I almost didn't take the job. I negotiated a higher starting salary that was better...but because they do not provide commuter reimbursement in any form it might as well be a lower pay-grade. As a guy who commuted and lives at home, I cannot image who a New Yorker could survive off the money they offer.
I am genuinely amazed they are still in business.
