Just happen across this "review" and felt it necessary to retort. Obviously the above comment was written by either a complete idiot, or a competitor. For starters, if you were that unhappy with something you bought there why not return it? Secondly, having dealt with the staff there for well over 20 years, they are absolute professionals. I trust no one else with my repairs and sales. Period. No place stays in business over 20 years by screwing people. Also, if you know anything about guitars, even the most novice of the players would know that if a guitar has a broken truss rod, Pat Metheny wouldn't even be able to play it, let alone a beginner. I know if I saw a "piece of metal" sliding in and out of a guitar, I'd pass on buying it in the first place. So before you decide to slam a reputable store, try to get at least ONE of your facts straight to make you sound somewhat believable.
That said, you will have no worries dealing with Tony or anyone at Rutherford Music. All a bunch of stand-up people there.

This guitar store is pretty typical. Just another place that makes their money from picks, strings, repairs and lessons. Bad selection and overstocked with crappy solid state amps. Anything that's vintage is overpriced.
The service is also pretty awful. A couple of years ago when I started to become pretty decent on guitar and wanted to get something new I bought a MIM nashville telecaster. Not knowing much about anything at the time I asked some questions to some kid who answered everything with a blatant lie.
I pointed to a piece of metal sliding in and out of the truss rod hole and asked, "Hey what's that?". He said, "Aw, that's nothing?" (it's a broken truss rod)
I asked what kind of pickups were in the guitar. He said "Oh, DiMarzio's I think." They were stock pickups.
Last but not least he lied about the original price. Flat out lied.
I didn't know any better at the time and got screwed over when they immediately paid the guy his consignment cash. I guess in times like these you need to be really shady in order to sell sub par equipment.
