Decent food but pricey, a good option for Indian cuisine near the financial district and battery park. Pretty crowded on weekends.

Decline in standards

I first visited Ruchi five months ago. Loved the food , the staff was friendly. I ate all week we stayed in Ny from Ruchis
But,
After four months I see a drastic down hill when I went there last night.
The only stewardess, Indian girl seem to be angry with everyone and absolutely had no smile . She was frowning the whole time.
Ordered a mango lassi , I could feel something has gone bad in it coz it tasted Rancid. I asked the steward Vikas I believe , without apology or even changing the drink he said , it must be the yogurt or the mango. He didn't care nor had no sense of service recovery.
Ordered lamb Vindaloo, it was too Tangy and spicy.
I wonder whether the cook has been changed since the last time. I'm sure no one was supervising the stewards/stewardesses coz they had no clue on customer service , greetings or smiles.
To the owner, you better get the service back on

My favorite Indian restaurant! The food is flavorful with a good amount of spice. At lunch they have a half price special on all North Indian food that really makes it a good deal.

Worst Indian restaurant. Biryani we ordered was burnt out and the burnt portions were hidden in rice. To have this worst food, we waited one hour outside in scorching sun sweating and one hour inside with not even water being served. Poor crowd management. Saag mushroom was a disaster. For the worst ever service we were charged 18% service tax. Really want to give zero star.

I tried this place because of a deal and LOVED it. It was decently priced and authentic. I got the chicken tickki marsala and was very happy with it. I also liked that their staff was polite and attentive - even after finding out I had a coupon lol. My only complaint is their metal chalices they use to serve water in. Some of them were rusty and made the water taste like metal. Bottom-line I am definitely coming back here again!
