Rockaway Fish House

I grew up on Rockaway Boulevard I remember when the fish house first can we should call the owner of the fish man I believe he was from North Carolina and when he opened up back in the seventies we used to hang out at the liquor store right next door to the fish house it was called lucky liquors Marvin Gaye came in there one day back in the seventies and that was my hangout spot now I'm 62 retirement and I still love the area the food was good then and still good now

The Ox tails, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, barbecue pork and even pig feet (and I certainly don't eat pigs feet) was delicious. The desserts are also good and on the weekend be prepared to stand in a very long line.

I've been going to this place for YEARS. From the time I worked in the area until today. Had no idea that the business had exchanged hands, had I known that I would've gone elsewhere. I went in around 2pm today and ordered. I came from Suffolk County for this food, and made sure I stopped at a Chase bank prior because I know the $25 minimum policy for using a credit card, The attendant tried to tell me the money was counterfeit which I laughed at and went next door to the bodega and happily exchanged with the gray haired owner behind the counter, with no issues whatsoever. I went back with the change and took the food. Here's my issue: the attendant told me the manager in the back said the bill was not real, yet when I called to speak to the manager after I left the woman that answered the phone told me the manager wasn't in today.
As much as I like the food, I can't say I'll be back.

I have patronized RCL for personal family meals, as well as catered affairs for the past 20+ years. They are my "Go To" Caterer. The food always arrives on time, as agreed, ready to serve and in ample portions. Their delivery fee is something low like $40 if they are bringing less than $400 worth of food. Whatever...its worth it. My favorite is their fried fish. It is so delicious, I eat the leftovers cold, right out of the fridge!. They also make delicious Jerk Pork and Jerk Ribs.

Now, I'm sure that some people may turn their nose up but please give them a try. Get a copy of their catering menu and look at the large selection of entrees and sides. The single meals may look a bit sloppy when you get them, but the catered food looks and tastes just the way it should.... good enough to eat!.

I used to work at rcl. I wonder if roger cynthia and my main man leroy still remember light skin. since the big dawg passed and the fam sold the house.it has went down. how can you have a soul food place closed on sat and sun. closed at 10:-00Pm every night thrs and fri included. the people that own this place have no sense of buisness. give it three or on the outside five more years and an end to a great neighborhood black establishment as well as tradition will be gone. all us old timmers have stopped going. and the rib shack on linden is atrocious. taste like all thier food comes out of a can.can someone please save this place before it is totaly ruined. both of these dives the quality of service has went to nill and the food taste like it comes off of the factory floor. and I do mean floor. shame on whomever brought the fish house (RCL). how could you buy something that worked and fixed it till it broke. it`s like taking the mona lisa and painting sunglasses on it. my advise to you is to do somin or quit. you don`t have what it takes. get some good halp. cause you need it. fier or shot the damn cook.if I could have given less than one star in this review I Would give you a - 10......
