There's a special (though very small) place for the Saturday Night Fever Rite Aid in my heart. Probably the last remaining roller disco now sells Ex-Lax and toilet paper, though the mirrored disco ball still dangles over your head. Bravo to these folks for their thoughtful preservation and an oxymoron: a fun Rite Aid.

This particular Rite Aid is worth a visit, even if you don't need anything as it occupies the former Meserole Theater and still has many of the architectural features present. From the long ramp you walk down to the middle of the store to the art deco balcony and arches, you can quickly get a sense of scale of the former majesty. The center of the ceiling also has a huge disco ball, showcasing the short time it spent as a disco club. Apparently if you ask nicely, the staff will also take you up to see the balcony, though we didn't try it when we visited. Rite Aid remains an interesting detour when touring Greenpoint.
