Rider used to be the best, great value and perfect customer service. After I lost my bike in Sandy they were amazing cutting me a check in days and I swore I would never leave them. That was before they informed me my K1300s had been reclassified and my premium would be rising from $400 to $1600 and if I wanted to add another bike it would be another $600. i promptly went looking for insurance and progressive is giving me twice as much coverage for both bikes at $600 per year!!
Now the next part of the saga continues, as trying to get a refund is painful, what you may have not read in your policy is the charges for cancelling a policy, looks like they will be screwing me over and trying to keep 80% of the policy even though I cancelled less than 6months in.
Its a great shame Rider used to be about the riders, not anymore. I predict unfortunately they will not be around much longer.

My husband and I have been with Rider Insurance since 2008. In that time we have never been late with our premiums, had no tickets, accidents or claims of any kind.
This year when I received our renewal statement, I was stunned to see that our annual premium had risen by over $170.00.
I called Rider immediately to find out what had happened and was told that they were allowed to do an across the board increase. It didn't matter that we had spotless records; we were being penalized along with all of those riders/drivers out there who don't have such good records.
We paid the first installment ($171.00) because our renewal date was 09/14/2015 and our new insurance wouldn't be effective until 10/01/2015. I called today to see if our refund had been processed and was told that it had and we would be receiving a check for $75 and change. According to "Ben" that I talked to today, your company is "entitled" to keep 13.89% of the full amount of our annual premium.
You may think that you're entitled to this, but we certainly don't. Picking anyone's pocket is a sin, but when you do it to people who are on fixed, limited incomes, it should be a crime.
In the last few year we have told dozens of other riders about your company, and will continue to do so. But instead of recommending you, I will be diverting other riders away from your company.

I purchased Full Coverage Motorcycle Insurance through Rider. Last Year they Informed me that is was going from $440 to Over $1600 Due to them Re-Classifying the 2010 Aprilia RSV4. The Bike Manufacturing Classification has and will always be the same as it was when it was produced. I have been trying to Reach the President of the Company with No Results. How can a Legit Business not Honor their Insurance Price for an Existing Customer? It should not be legal to Raise someones insurance 400% in one year. I purchased the bike factoring in the insurance price they provided of $440. I now have not been able to ride or sale the bike in years with out taking a huge loss. Please Help Me with this Bad Business.

I was run off the road by a car doing a panic lane change in Philly.
Despite doing a taped interview and filling out a packet that had me drawing pictures, they decided I was at fault .
Rider is dead to me. Low prices equals no service. You get what you pay for

I wish i could give them negative starts for their customer service. They don't contact, reach out, or communicate efficiently at all. I have spent more time trying to follow up with them than actually riding. They also replace things with very poor quality parts if needed.
Forget about accessory coverage, they need you to supply a plethora of information regardless of photos showing damage to accessories.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! And I want nothing to do with them, ever.
