Read the contract carefully - if you want to cancel, you need to mail them a letter and pay for 2 more months of membership no matter what. Gyms are individual entities and you are at the mercy of that manager. ABC financial cant help you but does charge you. Parking usually full, don't come here during peak hours. Read consumer complaints online before you sign up. There are gyms 5 minutes from this one like Dolphin and Bally's which have less hoops to jump through.
Its a clever trap overall.

I have never hated a gym so much. They baited me with a certain class, then stopped offering the class. When I signed up they gave me certain terms to cancel and did not honor them. I had to get up from bed rest from a back injury because now they changed their policy and you can only quit via certified letter from a post office (which takes an hour at any annoying Brooklyn post office.) Their facilities are terrible, crowded, and most are broken! Now NYSC on the belt is the same $20 monthly rate and they are amazing with 2 floors, a basketball court, racket ball courts, all machines work, sauna, etc and if you do $30 a month you get classes which are awesome, so I hope this information shuts retro down because I have never hated a business as much as I hate this facility of lies. Oh and they charge me for an extra 2 months just to cancel it, and have twice yearly surges in the charges of an extra $60. Do not let them fool you- you will never be allowed to cancel and your grandchildren will still be paying your membership.

The thing which wasn't friendly (rather pissed) that the reception told us that we can prepay for 3 months @ $40/month rate and if decides to continue, they'll give us the credit and charge @$20/month for a total 12 months period. So, additional $120 for reminder of 9 months. We obviously liked their friendly nature at that time and both of us joined.
But after three months when we spoke to extend the deal, the same girl said NO as her "new manager" does not agree. It was same manager all along. So, just got screwed over. Possibly get the deal in writing so they don't deny later (you would just hope though.)
It was alright gym (at least for my needs.) I run outside (not on treadmill) and then would go to retro for 25-30 mins exercise routine. The facilities are not so bad.

Worse place ever. Customer Service does not respond to your phone calls..... Management does not return phone calls. They only care about money. They do no care about customers....Verbally they tell you one story while in writing they come up with a different store. I would love to see the New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman Office look at this entity......I am sure he will find lots of abnormalities....

this place is alright. best time to go from my experience is weekday mornings and saturday/sunday afternoons are usually dead so that means there is space to move around, gym equipment is free and the place doesnt stink like sweat. i avoid this place like a plague during weekday afternoons because thats when people get out of work and go straight to the gym along with stupid kids who go there to fool around. this place is so small and when its gets crowded i just cant be there. anybody can enjoy coming here as long as they come at the right time which is when its not crowded.
