This place is amazing. The only thing that I was upset about is that it was sitting under my nose for the better part of fifteen years without me bothering to notice. I have seen the owner Rick around the neighborhood since 1997 or 98. He's always been a super pleasant guy nice to chat with, but somehow I never knew he had founded Relax. I stumbled onto the website today. Thank god. My body was a wreak after trekking around on vacation on top a couple of years of being on my feet all day (I own a hair salon) with no body work whatsoever. This place is a real gem. An actual West Village business with longevity, which, if you live here, you KNOW is hard to come by. This place is about good work. It is not a spa-like zen inspired situation. It's where you go to get pragmatic, practical massage in a comfortable, calm environment with an attentive staff that is running on time and wants to help with a gentle and warm approach. I saw Lisa and she was great. All the right questions totally open and sweet and she gave me a thoroughly relaxing, intense and vigorous (that's what I asked for, wanted and got) massage that left me feeling stress free and like I might be able to bend over and pick up a penny off the ground if I dropped it... She was really just great. I wasn't rushed. I got the full hour and considering how good Lisa was and the location, the $95 dollar price tag was a total steal. No complaints. Relax is one of the reasons I love Manhattan so much... It is home to some of the very best of the best and Relax is right at the top of their game.
