First off- seven dollars for a heineken. New Yorkers expect this, but to me it was a surprise. Apparently another thing these poor depraved NY men have normalized is entitlement. Case in point:
After grabbing my first beer the bartender pushes on her nonexistent chest and looks at me expectantly. I thought she was doing a bad job of flirting. She does it again and tells me I must be new here. I finally get the point- at "pumps" whenever a woman "pumps" her breast you put money in her brae. It does not matter if she has danced for you or not or even whether she is the girl you want to see dance and spend your money on or not. The reality was hammered in as all but the one stripper I actually wanted to see occupied the stage three at a time and all of them basically came to me for a handout.
It is worse than begging- it is entitlement. Don't get me wrong I go to a club to pay money, but I am from the west coast where you only approach the stage (upon which by the way girls get completely naked and put your head in a leg-lock when they like you) when they girl / girls you want to pay to see come up. Other than that some may come talk you up or do dollar dances. In either case THEY EARN THEIR MONEY. It is a capitalist system ijn which customers have freedom to choose where their money goes and the best girl wins. No it does not always pay for the less stereotypically pretty girl, but every girl got something to offer- honest human interaction and business deals if not model looks.
Actually I would have paid a lot that night had I any freedom, but here I was harassed and there was not even a table outside the bar to sit free from their begging.
Fifteen minutes in a girl I wanted nothing to do with came up to me for here third tip and asked why I looked so unhappy to be there. I told here I was used to different strip clubs I guess. With a bucktooth smile and a belly much bigger than her chest she pumped one more time and condescendingly informed me "ohh but we're in Brooklyn now".
