The first time I ate here I said I'm never coming back because of the service. But I have to admit, once I ate the food I could not resist. I've probably visited a total of 10 times and even became friendly with the staff. But enough is enough, I'm not choosing delicious food over service anymore!
The final straw was today. I ordered the Southern Breakfast and a side of grits. The waiter, who has served me on several occasions and knows me by name, said that the grits were not ready. I asked him how long and he said I'd have to wait about 15/20 minutes. I was not in a rush and was really in the mood for grits so I told him that I'd wait. 30 minutes later my food came out but they forgot to bring my side of grits. I flagged down the host because the waiter was no where to be found. He said that he would go check. The waiter came to the table I told him that I did not get my grits and now the rest of my food was getting cold. He never apologized, he just said ok and walked away. 5 minutes later the host brought over the grits and asked if I needed anything else. I ordered another drink and suggested it be on the house because of the wait. The waiter came over clearly annoyed and I actually had to explain to him why I felt they should comp my drink. He agreed to take it off the check. Still no apology for forgetting my grits and making me wait.
I've always felt, since my first visit, that the staff acts like they are doing you a favor. They have this take it or leave it attitude. They are not accommodating and refuse to suck up. They desperately need customer service training 101. Trying to accommodate your customers is not sucking up and I will no longer support this behavior. There was 3 of us and our bill came to $80 for Brunch. I don't mind paying that much for Brunch if the service good but to pay that much and they act like I'm doing them a favor, NO WAY! Goodbye forever Pillow Cafe, there are so many other restaurants in Brooklyn to choose from....

Their garden bagel is awesome, but Pillow is far too expensive for what it is. It's a shame too, because it is a cool little place.
