Food was good enough, but service was just plain bad. We booked Christmas Eve dinner a month in advance, asking for downstairs seating because an elderly member of our party has breathing problems when climbing stairs. They put us upstairs anyway. Our party member said she was ok, but still. Why do they ask if they have no intention of accommodating the request?
We were greeted by a woman with a big smiley Merry Christmas! then handed over to an unsmiling, seemingly confused woman who couldn't figure out which person in our party of six she had already taken an order from, asking the last one if she had "changed her mind" when she gave her order. Of the six, two orders were wrong. Three of us ordered different versions of the same pasta: one, a gluten-free pasta with no cheese, another, the same pasta with no meat and no request for gf pasta, and the third the same pasta with shrimp. What we got were two gluten-free vegan pastas and one with chicken. I accepted my incorrect order, missing the cheese, but my friend sent hers back because she really wanted shrimp, not chicken. Our waitress was nowhere to be found, so we waved down the Merry Christmas woman to help us. However, it was a good ten minutes before our sixth party member got her corrected dinner. Mind you, we were seated at six and the upstairs dining room was still pretty empty. They also forgot two side dishes we had ordered, and we had to wave down the Merry Christmas woman to get them, too.
No one ever came by to ask if anything was ok, or to ask if we wanted to order more wine, which we discussed but never got a chance to order. However, we counted, and the first woman hollered Merry Christmas to us six times total from the time we came in until we were walking down the stairs.
At $18 for a dish of meatless, cheese-less pasta and $23+ for the other dishes, this stuff shouldn't happen. We have dined there in the past and liked the food, but if they don't care enough to provide professional service, I don't care enough to spend my money there again. Will find another place next Christmas.

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years and last night, Christmas Eve, was the worst it has ever been. New owners took over a few months ago and have ruined it. Yes it may look better, but that is not what brings a person back to a restaurant. First, we get there for our reservation (we wanted an earlier time but we're told they were "booked") and there were numerous tables open so our earlier time could have been reserved. Then we get our usual waitress upstairs and think everything will be fine until we order our food.. We wait a long time over 30 mins for our apps, only to see that the portions have shrunk, then after waiting another 45 mins to an hour (lost track of time watching others complain and a table next to us got up and left while waiting, I wish we had that option) to get our entrees only to see that these portions were even smaller than the apps. The kids meal was for a child under 5 I guess because no 8yr old won't be hungry after what was served... Felt terrible for the wait staffcause when asked about this they had no answers and not once did a manager come upstairs, they had to know what was going on. All and all a terrible experience and after 15 years of going to this establishment j can honestly say we won't be back...

The stuffed pork chop is the best meal I've ever eaten in my life. The service is great and they are updating the interior. They have live music sometimes too. My favorite spot.

I know there's not a lot of options around in Middletown for an Italian restaurant, but that's no excuse to not have exceptionally tasty food to match the tasty interior. The meals which which are $20 don't come with a salad. We ordered the penne vodka with chicken, sausage and peppers and Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, you get 1 sausage link and one small chicken breast with each dish. The sausage was supposed to be in red sauce it wasn't, the onions and peppers were not well done as requested. The sauce in the other two dishes were no better than jar. Monmouth dinner has a better sauce and 2X the meat for around $13.00 and you get a salad.
