Payless Car Rental

Run away!! I warmly advice you NOT to rent a car from this company. Even if it's for a fair price - believe me - it's not worth it!
BLUF- got a broken car, almost made an accident because of it, charged us for getting a new car, bad service, very hard to get them on phone when needed

My father and I rented a full sized car through @Hotwire. They gave this car rental company. We took the car from JKF, NY.
1. The car started having noise and lost control in the middle of the highway after a week of driving. Therefore we had to order road side service.
2. They charged us $113 for road side service, in order to take the car to a workshop and get a new one. charged us - for their car's fault!
3. The road side service didn't show up even after 15 hours
4. We asked to cancel the fee of the road side service because they didn't give us any help
5. They said they can't, and that we need to take the car to JFK in order to change the contract
6. The manager was not reachable throughout the all time (24 hours!!!!!!)
7. We are foreigners in the US, and our hands are tied. I was hoping to get a good service in America. Compared to other car rental companies, this was the worst.

THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE!

Excellent customer service from Felice and Andrew at the JFK counter. They were polite, clear and helpful. I had made a mistake when I made the reservation and they instructed me how to get another reservation at a better rate. They will not bend the the rules so you need to be sure you listen and have everything in order. My only complaint would be the phone contact for customer service was an answering machine.

My experience with Payless @ JFK compared to other rental companies are about even; Fair to Good. The customer service is average to good, depends on who you get at the counter. Upon picking up the car, the customer service representative was ok but I had to renew the rental the 2nd time, the other rep was friendlier. They do not renew or extend the rental through the web, you have to go back to airport to renew or extend. That's inconvenient, luckily I wasn't that far away. The rental rates were really good for New York and compares to rates you get in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Orlando, etc., taxes are the difference. Their cars are average to ok, maybe more mileage on them than some rental companies but that's probably how they are able to offer lower rates. The car I rented needed front end alignment; it veered and pulled to the left and the air flow was broken but luckily I hit a week when weather was warm in NYC and just turned on the warm air to balance the temperature. Overall, I would rent from Payless again.

i was charged one extra day cause employes over there act like if they over charge people they get the benefit. every extra day u keep the car they charge an extra 12 dollars on top ur daily rental rate. they charge some weird tax i never heard of in the world .i personally had a car for 2 days rental rate for day was 40$ my bill came up 358.00 dollars. just becareful employee aren't willing to help with the bill.....
