Parlor

Parlor is a wonderful salon - I've been going there for more than ten years! The stylists really take their time with you; they make sure they understand what you want before they start working. The Aveda products they use are fabulous. Over the years the texture and condition of my hair has changed somewhat and my stylist always recommends the right product to make my hair looks its best. I get frequent compliments on my hair, all thanks to the Parlor stylists!

Parlor is everything I want in a salon. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the price point is fair for the experience, and the space is relaxing and welcoming. On the first few visits they can be a bit pushy with products, but in the end I like Aveda products better than others on the market so I view it as them showing me the way to a better hair experience even at home. Although the location isn't very accessible (Ave B and 7th), don't be a lazy New Yorker, take the walk and thank me later.

I've been going to Parlor for several years. It's got a great atmosphere, relaxing, friendly—Gwenn and the staff really care about giving you the hair cut and/or coloring you want. You never feel rushed because they really take their time and give you great personal attention. They indulge you with great touches, like serving herbal teas and dispensing hand massages. The space has personality, with vintage details that combine funkiness with elegance. When you leave there you look and feel fantastic. It's like going to a day spa—but in the East Village. A true New York treasure. I can't recommend Parlor more highly.

I had my first hair appointment at Parlor with expert stylist, Giovanna. After being in New York for two years I have found my salon! I was so appreciative to have Giovanna sit down and listen to my needs and give great advice for color correction. She went above and beyond to accommodate me, even fitting me in her schedule for a color, cut and style when I only had scheduled a first time consultation. I was given several sample products and a lovely spa-like shampoo treatment. Most importantly, I left in love with my new hair color and felt that I could trust Giovanna as my forever stylist.

Love this business so much! I have been going to Parlor for almost 5 years and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Everyone who works there is so nice and professional. There is such a high standard of quality customer care. I mention this because I think it is becoming more and more rare these days and Parlor does this so well. Amanda has been doing my hair since the first time I went and she's awesome- a superstar! She always listens so carefully to what I want, while balancing it with good advice. You really get the sense of her immense expertise and immediately feel like you're in good hands. Again, I hope to be getting my hair done at Parlor for years and years to come.
