The Verdict is in from Panasonic on my 55" Plasma TV...
To Recap... I bought a Panasonic 55" Plasma TV 2 years ago... one of the better sets out there per consumer reports. Paid $1,600 for it. A week into having it installed over our fireplace, it began to have issues. The screen would go blank for a few seconds a few times an hour like the screen was resetting. Service came out and of course, the TV wouldn't do it when they were there. We lived with the problem for 1 1/2 years. The issues got worse to the point where the TV shut down. Panasonic's Authorized Service Center came out and had to replace a circuit board which cost me $479. Less than a month later a line appeared across the screen. I was told by Panasonic that it sounded like a Panel problem and it was very expensive to fix. The only way they would consider helping me was that their Authorized Service Center come out to tell me the same. It cost me another $125 for them to tell me it would cost close to $2,000 to fix... I emailed all the information they requested and they called me yesterday... They are offering me 40% off a TV I MUST buy from there website, Retail Price... Keep in mind that Panasonic announced a few days ago that they are no longer making Plasma's and discontinuing them. WHAT A JOKE... I can get a better deal going to Best Buy and getting one on sale... It's not the money... I'm going to replace the set... JUST NOT GOING TO BUY A PANASONIC PRODUCT because they obviously don't back their products... I'm in the Automotive industry and if this were a car... I would have been covered under the Lemon Law.... Panasonic... MY PANASONIC TV IS A LEMON...
