Went there on a Friday night with my girlfriend. Server was good and very accommodating. We ordered a yellow fin tuna carpaccio which was pretty good, and entree a seafood pasta dish in broth which was very good. We also ordered a strip steak, which ended up being over charred and flavorless. When we sent it back, the chef came out personally and started asking us why we sent it back, after which part I told him it was over charred and lacking flavor. He made it seem like we didn't know what we were talking about, that it was a good piece of meat, and kept reiterating that it was made on a skillet (I've made many steaks before on skillets that were a million times better and didn't run 35 bucks). Anyway, we got the bill and turns out steak was still on there. I called the manager and turns out the chef is the owner..he was very rude to us, telling us that it was a good piece of meat and that since we ate 3 pieces it was going to stay on the bill. I figured I would at least take the steak to go..and this is the most appalling/disgusting part of all, he gives me the SAME steak, now cold, to go. We also had desert in the meantime, so this piece of steak was sitting in the kitchen for 40 mins after? Completely disgusted with the restaurant and will never go back there.

We ate here for the first time about a month ago. While I can say that it's a bit over-priced and the the decor is a bit dated and stereotypically old-school Italian, we enjoyed everything else about the place. My partner had a mixed seafood dish with black pasta, and I had short ribs with risotto that was moist, tender and delicious. The soups we had for appetizer were also very good. We had a creme brulee' for dessert which was good, though it's pretty hard to mess up creme-brulee'.
The service was very good, even teetering on the edge of *too* attentive, but never crossing the line. We were seated and our food served in a timely manner--I think it was a really well-paced meal. We never felt rushed, nor were we ever looking around wondering where the meal was.
The best thing about the place, I thought, was the live music. We were seated right near the piano, where there was a pianist and saxophone player. Two elderly gentlemen who could *really* play. It was a delight, as I don't see many places with casual live entertainment these days (or maybe it's just me and I need to get out more). I'm a musician, myself, so I can vouch that these guys were real pros. Great repertoire of standards and lesser-known songs, sweet solos and creative improv. I really enjoyed the music a lot.
It is a bit pricey, as I said, so we won't be able to go back often, but we'll definitely go back.

This is my 3rd time dining at Palazzo and WOW is all i have to say. WOW!!! to the service and the food!!! Palazzo has had the same food for 10 years now!!! Is the owner John Giglio a chef or just some cook that learned hand me down recipes. No creation or an imagination for a new menu. Overly priced for the portions my wife and I received. The desserts are from what I can tell come out of a box. the only thing good at palazzo is the rigatoni Bolo. I ordered a Coke and and got 2 refills and was charged $6. The glass is maybe 10oz filled with ice to the top. I wasn't told specials from my waiter George and saw that a gentleman next to me had ordered lamb chops, which is my favorite. and the Calamari has to be the worst cornmeal crust I've ever had. I will never return to palazzo unless ownership is changed. A note to everyone there are many Great Italian Restaurants around montclair than palazzo. dont even wast your time at this restaurant

I have been eating at Palazzo for years. The food is always great quality. Tonight we actually ate outside. The salads are awesome. I just keep coming back.
