Reviews to P.S. 260 Breuckelen
I was at PS 260 when it first opened in 1953. It was a great school for me during the innocent 1950's. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Attending that school was the highlight of my youth. The Breuckelin Projects had opened the year before and everything was brand new and all my friends from the projects were there. My first day of school I was taken out of Miss Ebenholtz's kindergarten class because I went there by mistake and I was sent to Miss MacNaughten's first grade class where I was late practically every day even though I lived across the street. She (thank God)promoted me to Miss Solomon's (my first crush) 2nd grade class, then she to Mrs. Freed 3rd grade class, then she to Mrs. Steinberg's 4th, then to Mr. Kasman's 5th and finally Mr. Jerenberg's 6th. Mr. Jerenberg introduced me to my first novel which was a revelation. Sixteen years later, I graduated with my BA in English from St. Francis College but my love of writing and literature and seeing movies and TV all began at the Breuckelin projects and at PS 260 in East New York Brooklyn. Memories of my life there which I will cherish till the day I die.
