I brought my 88 year old mom to see Dr. Portfolio because she had an eye infection. The staff assured me that her problem was covered under my mom's medicare and supplemental insurance. During the course of the exam an eye test (refraction) was given, without consent and without letting her know that that portion of the visit would not be covered and that my mom would be charged $99.11 for it. My mom has 20/20 vision, is on a fixed income and would never have consented to this test if she knew she would have had to cover it herself. I find it very sneaky that the office staff tells you after the fact that this test is not covered instead of pointing it out before hand. To the contrary they are very reassuring that the problem would be covered.
When I discussed it on the phone today with a member of staff she began yelling at me and talking over me in an unprofessional and I might add very common way. Beware of this office, they can't be trusted and they do not act in a caring and responsible manner.
