Om Sai Mandir - Shirdi Sai Baba and Sathya Sai Baba's Temple, Flushing, NY

This temple changed my life. I started visiting the temple at the worst time of my life when I was in distress and brief joblessness while I had graduated from my masters in the 2008 economic slowdown and all I had in the US was only me and myself to face life in it's toughest form (of course with Baba too). The people (volunteers and administrative team) whom I met really gave me solace and guidance and simply treated me as one of their family. I really owe to each and everyone in this temple more than my life, given a chance or choice. Here is where I simply upgraded from a Sai devotee to Baba's closest chela. This place teaches you so much in life, depending on what point you are in. I have witnessed many people (regardless of caste, race, ethnicity etc,) coming in despair (life's worst problems) and finding solutions, includes myself too. Of course, it is all possible because of the sincere prayers devotees perform and the Baba's murtis here will communicate in a subtle form back to you. However, all I know is, the place where I stand right now in life (which is a 100% makeover), I owe to Baba and this mandir.

Summing up, this is a very unique mandir where miracles in life happens without you realizing it. It is very different from all other Sai mandir's I have visited (about 25-30 in the US - East coast, mid west, southern and western) and the purpose of this mandir is unique. I wish this temple shows light to many more people who are in need of some miracle or hope in life!

Personally, I have never even gone inside the doorway of this temple. But I do happen to know a little about the man who runs it, Gangadhar Rao Chalasani (or, as he graciously allows us to call him, Dr. Rao).

My elderly parents are blessed to live right next door, and Dr.Rao and his family have been kind and helpful beyond words. In my humble opinion, they exemplify what it truly means to actively live a live of spiritual love, helpfulness and giving, and in a simpler sense, what it means to be a good neighbor. Thank you Dr. Rao!

Each time i visit this place, i feel inner peace. Small temple with big heart. So nice of fellow devotees who always provide free and delicious food as "LANGHAR" espacially Thursday & all other major festivals....! Wish i can also help for temple activities as possible as !

Om Sai Mandir, is our Divine Home. The loving statue of Both Baba smiling at us from any angle we see is really amazing. The eye contact baba has with us from the moment we enter the temple, we feel a divine pull and tend to forget all our worries and sorrows and feel Serene and Calm. At times we feel to talk and share every thing with baba as we feel he is asking us to speak, A father, asking his child "Son, are you feeling ok" this brings tears of joys and happiness. This is the feeling of our Om Sai Mandir. It is our Shirdi and our Partthi in New York. Sairam
