- Terrible #53871
In full disclosure, I went to this restaurant for a repast luncheon.

We arrived at 12:30pm.

The restaurant is huge and we were seated way upstairs. There was immediately a smell of fried food that permeated the environment.

At about 1:15pm, they brought out some pasta and sauce for each table and some water and soda. I didnt eat the pasta because I am gluten free.

Then at about 1:45pm, they brought out one salad for each table (it was family style). The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, tomato, a little carrot and maybe a cucumber.

Waters/sodas were never replaced. Nor did we ever see a waitress between courses.

Then after scarfing down the salad (we were starving), they took our order. We had the choice of Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Francese, Chicken Marsala, Stuffed Pork, and Sliced Steak. I chose the Stuffed Pork. It was supposedly stuffed with Broccoli Rabe, red pepper and Mozzarella.

At about 2:30 we inquired about where the food was. The waitress (when we found her) said that it was all ready and would be brought out shortly). LIAR!

At about 3:00pm. The food finally came out. My stuffed pork was dry as hell and there was no mozzarella in it at all. It came with a small dollop of mashed potatoes and some almost cold broccoli and/or cauliflower. I say and/or because some plates had a mix of both, some only broccoli. It was very inconsistent. The food was NOT WORTH THE WAIT AT ALL. In fact, it was pretty lousy.

So, to sum up. Terrible service. Slow kitchen. Lousy food. and a faint smell of burnt frier oil.

I have to reiterate that it took them 2 and a half hours to serve us food. We sat around most of the time waiting and complaining.

I WOULD NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would.

The staff is amazing as well as the food! Never had a bad meal here; 5$ fillet mignon on Mondays especially! When you go down the stairs from the main formal restaurant there is a great sports bar... Pool table in the back, darts, and great specials. Perfect small town bar in walking distance!

Heavy drinks and rude staff. I was waiting for 10-15 minutes to be told " ill be right with you" and wait another 6 minutes. Not the best for casual drinking except beer. this was a friday night also. Bands are great and the people that go here are friendly, generally older crowd. I still had a good time but service means a lot at a busy bar.
Really good food too. Amazing bar food and good specials.

Had a good time here and finally they have a real bartender! Blonde AND skilled? She made our night much better than we expected. I'll be back and hopefully she is still behind the stick...

I honestly love this place! I have eaten here multiple times and I always have a wonderful time. The bar side is great for a burger and a game and the restaurant side always has incredible specials (of course, you can order anything off the dinner menu while eating at the bar). Overall, a clean restaurant and fun bar with amazing food and service.

the Ale House has the best thin crust pizza in northern NJ, the sushi is out of this world (yes, this Italian restaurant has authentic sushi) and the steaks are also incredible! The coconut shrimp is my favorite appetizer!
