NYC Basketball League

Great League and Awesome Referees who control games at all Levels.

I've played in many men's basketball leagues, both inside and outside NYC, and this one is by far the WORST. For the price you pay, the quality of the gyms, refs, stats and overall organization are all sub par. The free agent process was extremely unorganized and the full schedule wasn't finalized until after the 3rd game (you only get 8 games). I can write an entirely separate post on the poor officiating, but to avoid a complete rant, I'd just like to note the simple fact that you do not have to be certified to ref in this league, enough said. If you're looking for a men's league, avoid the NYC Basketball League

Well run league. They are organized, have good gyms, individual stats on website, and you can play in the Barclays.

GOD, I wish I read Walter Middleton's review before my team signed up for this league! I've had ALL the same problems, plus more.

Our first game is scheduled for Monday at 4:55pm according to an e-mail they sent to my junk mail folder!! What kind of corporate league has a game starting that early? Especially after we explicitly indicated NO GAMES BEFORE 7pm.

I was promised that if sent an email to Katherine, before Christmas mind you, that she would add all of my players to a roster that they could see online. She's only added 4 out of my 10 players. She promised to do this not once, not twice, but three different times in three different conversations.

Other than that, please just read Walter Middleton's post for the rest of the issues. This is by far the worst customer service of any of the basketball leagues I've played in over the last 10 years. And, they want to offer my teammate a $50 practice credit? What is a practice credit? And, I'm the captain... how I was I not notified about this? And, is anyone gonna return my call as Katherine promised someone would on Tuesday?

This has been a crazy experience. And, I'm not even highly emotional about it. Just confused and disappointed.

Haven't started the season yet but with the new year and a new site there is some lag in communication wit the league. The site looks cool and seems that it will have full game stats. The gyms that we'll play in also look to be better then other leagues so far also but the league still has a lot of work to do. Will report back with a full review once the season is over, my teammates and I hope things change for the better soon!
