The ferrys to Hoboken North from WFC are always getting full in the evenings. Ive been unable to get on a boat on most nights unless arriving 20 mins early to get in line. Huge diappointment since the ride is only 9 mins. Consider taking the path, especially give the $11 one way ticket price.

It puts a different dynamic on transportation in NYC and it seems it's aimed at the upper middle class people.
The people at the ticket, eh so so.

Great way to get to the IKEA in Brooklyn. It's free on the weekends!

Ferry service is great. Customer service when buying a ticket is the absolute worst.

I love the ferry. Any ferry. It's like a mini cruise for a commute. So relaxing. The only thing that could make it better... Cocktail service. And the city views are spectacular.
There's a little chop when you cross the wake of all the other boat traffic on the East River. Think of it like a ride at Great Adventures, makes the trip even more fun.
Sadly, the only time I get to take the ferry is when I make an Ikea run. And the downside is that you are limited to what you can fit in one of those Ikea blue bags on the return trip. I understand the restriction. This isn't steerage, and I don't want to drown because your Iktör table is not a flotation device.
From Manhattan to Red Hook, it's a really short trip and well worth the 5 bucks. If you buy more than $10 worth of merchandise at Ikea, show your ticket stub at the register and you'll get the fare credited to your purchase. If you're anything like me... wrap the ticket around your credit card so you can't possibly forget. Added ferry bonus... on the weekends the trip is free!
Frankly, the East River Ferry beats the B61 bus any day.
