My fiancé lives in NB, and I visit him frequently, my car is registered out of state. If I (which happens frequently) come to see him after 4 pm (which is ALL the time bc guess what NBPA, people do have lives and work) I will get a ticket every time! It is not ethically right how they handle parking. I completely understand residents not having spaces for themselves from the surplus of other cars. However, to assume that the space being taken up is by non-locals is BS! The overpopulation in the area is due to the multitude of illegal apartments, and the cramming of more people in a house with cars, on top of places being turned into apartments already on top of each other! That in itself speaks volumes!!
Not to mention, when you go to show a utility bill, you have to have a tangible copy (ok fair), nowhere on the website does it specify a PHYSICAL copy. Thus showing them a screen shot (when you have paperless billing doesn't suffice).
My issue is this, it is not right to have visitors penalized for parking when you don't provide "after hour" relief for those people! What do you expect people to do? Turn around? Go back because they don't have a permit to park? Seems to me, its another way to make money. Better yet, right across the street lies UNION CITY, where they give their residents VISITOR PARKING PASSES FOR THE YEAR!!! ACTUALLY 2 OF THEM. NOW THAT is what I call making sense. It is utterly ridiculous how they operate.
There have been times where I have purchased 30 day permit so I can pop up as I choose, and then sometimes I dont have the time to go get another, OR when I get there the lines are so long, and you guys are very slow.
I was told that a neighboring town has machines for those people who need a pass and arrive after the office has closed.
This is a serious problem and the reason no one has fixed it is because they benefit off of it. There is NO WHERE to park for FREE in some areas of NB every street has a sign, every street is a residential area (DUH!)
Countless times, when I call, they don't answer the phone professionally, "HELLO "with an attitude is not professional. If you are bored or sick with your job customer service is not the job for you.
If I could give 0 stars for the lack of common sense, and functionality in the 21century I would give it to you

I am quite disappointed in North Bergen ' s Parking Authority. One gets a resident parking permit and it's for 3 years...yet no mail notifications go out in advance like NJ DMV does when your license, or registration is about to expire. No notification whatsoever and I was issued a $50 fine. Nobody stares at their rear view mirror every month to see that there is an expiration date. Corrupt system in North Bergen, NJ and it's parking authority.

Corrupt place, they said, they called "me" on the wrong number, and apparently that person that claimed to be me, changed my address without any proof of identity. They sent all the letters to the wrong address, i was late on payment for 2 weeks, when i got there with the 150$ for 3 months and the 25$ for late fee. They said my parking space was given to someone else. What kind of crap is this? Without warning my car could have been towed away, but the person that has the spot now, "supposedly" hasn't called the tow truck nor has he left any letters. This is bullshit or what? I went in person to speak to the manager, Jackie, who had a nasty attitude, said there was nothing she could do for me, even tho it was their mistake.
