I started training here a few months ago and I cant say enough good things about it. Ive trained in martial arts most of my life but nothing compares to the quality of NJ United. Jay is a great guy and an awesome instructor. He'll take as much time as you need to answer a question or help with a technique. Maggie and Danny are also excellent instructors and are super nice. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful, that its a pleasure to workout here every day. I knew from the first class that i came to the right place. Thank you to everyone at Nj United for making me a part of this family. Anyone that is thinking about training should absolutely come to NJ United. You're going to love it!

I have been studying martial arts since I was a kid. (Isshin-Ryu karate brown belt, taekwondo green belt, previous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). You can say I went from style to style, teacher to teacher until I found something that was fulfilling and real when it comes to real life application. Before I came to this school I did a thorough research to see if this was a good fit. I was impressed to find not only did the teacher did well in competitions but also did the majority of the students. I decided to give the school a try as a blue belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner. I was amazed at how much as a blue belt I did not know. I’ve been with this school for 2 to 3 years now and I can tell you I am not the same person that walked in at the start of class. I love Jay Hayes teaching style. He spends one month on a certain technique and makes you drill it over and over again. This makes it certain that it stays in your mind. Then the next month he moves into another technique and sometime goes back to the previous technique to ensure that you did not forget it. For this reason I remember stuff from 2 years ago. He is very good at coaching his students when they compete outside the school whether it’s Brazilian ju jitsu to full MMA. One time I saw him attend a grappler’s competition to help coach all his students and he stayed there from 8 in the morning till 9pm and then woke up the next day to do it all over again. If that is not dedication I don't know what is. He's very patient with his teaching and helps all students whether they pick up fast or not. Also the students in the class are very friendly and are not cocky at all. They are also very knowledgeable and very willing to help push you forward. I must say I have found something fulfilling and real when it comes to real life application of martial arts and have not regretted one day walking into that door the first day of class.

NJ United is unmatched when it comes to a positive, friendly, and welcoming training atmosphere. Jay and his team of coaches are true representatives of the martial arts. All the classes I've ever tried at NJU are fun, technical, and very engaging, all the while being very beginner-friendly, easing the process for those who may initially feel nervous. While training at NJU, I have lost about 30 lbs, and gotten into the best shape of my life. Aside from the topnotch instruction, NJU has a fantastic community feel. Jay has cultivated an ego-free training environment of hard work, and humility, and this is shown when you step on the mats and encounter all the different kinds of people who train there. These are some of the reasons I continue to train here despite my 1/2- full hour one way commute.

I recently started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at NJ United Mixed Martial Arts in the beginning of Feb 2013.. I can honestly say that you will not regret coming here to try it whether you are an "experienced" adult or a young child this is the academy you will want to go to.. With the excellent instruction from Jay Hayes and company your confidence, flexibility, conditioning, etc will increase tremendously.. On top of the excellent instruction everybody that trains there is like a family.. Jay will take all the time needed to answer questions and guide you.. So stop in and try... You won't be sorry

I have been training at NJ United for a few months in both Muay Thai and Jiu jitsu and the staff here is the best in my opinion. The teaching here is unlike any other school, is definitely well planned and executed. Everyone is friendly and the environment is extremely motivating. I feel really lucky that i was able to find this school and be part of this awesome history. I highly recommend this school to ANYONE who wants to grow as a person, learn self-defense and even make new friends. Best Mixed Martial Arts School in NJ, in my opinion.
