New York State Department of Motor Vehicles

I was pleasantly surprised. I was very nervous about being able to renew my registration (that expired that day) and getting to work on time by 9am. I drove from the Bronx to Yonkers because Yonkers DMV opens at 8am. I got there about 7:40am and stood outside the door with 10-15 other people. The doors opened at 8am, I was immediately given a number, and I was back out the door with my new registration in hand by 8:06am. Couldn't have been better! And at that time in the morning, the meters in front are available and you don't have to feed them until after 9am.

We went here to change our registration from CT to NY- and we also got our new licenses. They had agents who were at the door who helped direct you to the right counter and to make sure you had everything on you instead of you waiting in line only to find out you didn't have everything you needed. Everyone was very pleasant, and there was no line at the license counter. We did just recently move and they allow you to change your address by filling out a form and mailing it in- which is much easier than having to take off work and go in person. I used to live in CT where the DMV was always an absolute nightmare. People would line up outside starting at 5am just to be first in line. Yonkers DMV was a pleasant experience!

Perfect. Exchanged my out-of-state license. In and out in twenty minutes. Everyone friendly and efficient.

The folks there were perfectly polite. The place is just a little hard to find if you're not familiar with the area.
