Do not send your child to this school!
Here are important factors you should know.
• Early Intervention program goals are ignored, they will just teach ABS’s, 123 and basic colors throughout the whole time your child is in this school – teacher does what she wants to do!
• School is not well maintained, my children were constantly sick, they got strep throat at 2 years old and coxsackie virus – there was a time, they were constantly coming home with fever, after I would send them to school in good health, my home therapist would agree, they saw them daily
• There is a teacher with a heavy accent, she is rude, unprofessional and belittles parents. Since most of the parents do not speak English, she gets away with this nonsensical behavior.
• This particular teacher and the director have worked together for 14 years, so you are not getting anywhere with the director. The director will make excuses for this teacher as well.
• If you have an opinion or questions on your child’s curriculum, this teacher will then have an attitude. She will also tell her colleagues that you complain about everything! Go figure, so if you are concerned about your child, how does that make you a complainer?
If you have high expectations for your child, like I did, and I have triplets; do not send your child to this school. My daughter started having meltdowns because she was tired of the ABC’s and the same daily routine for 1 year. Once I mentioned I was pulling my triplets out of this school because goals were not being met or followed, then I was told, they would make it challenging. It was too late. I found a better school that followed Early Intervention goals (The Association for Metroarea Autistic Children, Inc.) And my children were not sick most of the time. My children were happier at this new school and challenged as well.
My home ABA therapist who is an Assistant Principal at a top autistic school wrote to this teacher so they can all be on the same page with goals, this teacher ignored his email. Not once, did I receive an apology from this school, after the teacher had the audacity to ask me if I gave my triplets vitamins, because they were always sick! The nerve of her to ask me that stupid question! I’ve been giving my kids vitamins since they came home from NICU and they were on a Gluten free diet. The problem here is that she’s belittled other parents and has never been reprimanded. The school is located in a low income neighborhood, so she felt superior and got away with ignorant actions. Your child deserves to go to a school where he/she will be challenged and in a clean environment. Look for another school where teachers respect parents.
