Miracle Worker
My son was born with a small airway that caused him to have severe obstructive sleep apnea since birth. As he grew, my son’s sleep apnea worsened and other treatments such as having his adenoids and tonsils removed and having his epiglottis stitched up failed to improve his condition. We were referred to Dr. Neugarten by our ENT and were impressed from our first meeting with him and his team. My family spent several hours in consultation with Dr. Neugarten over multiple meetings and he made us feel comfortable. He took a LOT of time to answer each of our questions and to address our concerns. Dr. Neugarten performed a surgery called mandibular distraction surgery that involves pulling the lower jaw forward in order to increase the diameter of the airway to fix the sleep apnea. Just thirteen days following surgery, a sleep study showed that our son’s sleep apnea was 100% gone! The difference in lifestyle for our son is incredible – he has much more energy and is much less grouchy during the day. We have had numerous follow-ups with Dr. Neugarten and during each session he has made our son feel comfortable and at ease.
