I moved to the area a few months ago and since then, I've been searching for a good barber. One day while doing my laundry at the local Laundromat, I noticed Natural Man Haircutters across the street. I decided I'd get a haircut while I waited for my clothes to dry.
Initial impression was great as I was greeted and seated immediately. I don't recall the name of the person who cut my hair, but it was a nice middle-aged woman. I asked for a short layer cut on top with a slight taper on the back and sides. It's a fairly standard cut from what I understand, but it's amazing how the quality varies from place to place. In this case, I was not a fan of the quality of my cut.
First, the taper on the sides was not well blended. The transition was very noticeable and slightly uneven. Second, the short layer I asked for on top was not short enough compared to how much was cut on the sides. This is a big no-no in my book. Lastly, there was a noticeable chunk of hair in the back that was not cut. I didn't notice it until the next day when I was trying to style my hair and felt it. When I looked in the mirror, I could see a random chunk of hair that stuck out like a sore thumb in comparison to the rest of my hair.
To add insult to injury, the prices here are a little on the expensive side. It cost $17.00 for a haircut, which is $4 to $5 more than most barbershops I've been to. I wouldn't mind paying the extra money if the cut was worth it, but I felt a little ripped off given the quality of the cut I received. Needless to say, I will not be a returning customer and will continue my search for a barber.
