Good food, service and atmosphere. I was happy that I went. Found it based on Google and found it week worth it.

Yesterday I went with two long time friends to Nagahama Sushi to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. I had bought her a $100 gift card and this would be the first time we would be able to use it.
First the good - the food is excellent and easily compares to anything else around. I've been here several times and would definately return for the food alone. I would definately return despite the negative points below; the food is simply that good. We had sushi, tempura and a slew of appetiziers, all done to perfection.
The negative - when we tried to pay, the manager told us there was a zero balance on the unused gift card. Fortunately we had both the gift receipt and the credit card I used for the gift card. We waited a half hour for this to be sorted out. The manager was very apologetic, and said that this happened frequently, apparenyly so we wouldn't take it personally. He even showed us a list of accounts in which he had similar problems.
I don't know what would have happened if we didn't bring the gift receipt and if I didn't have access to my credit card account. I would recommned this place, despite the gift card debacle but I'd strongly advise against buying their gift cards.

The best sushi in NY. It is part of our life. Spicy crunchy shrimp handroll made by Hide. Sit at the sushi bar and have it all.

I love blowing my parents money. However, I did not enjoy blowing it this time around. It really was not worth it. The food is incredibly expensive for the amount that you get. The quality is good, albeit not worth what you are paying for. There are a plethora of other Asian cuisine places near by, at least half of which I believe are better.
The only reason that I did not one star is because of the free green tea, and the fact that the service is not horrible.
