Reviews to Music Together at Staten Island Family Music
My Mom put me and my sister into this school when were were 6 and 9. I really loved it and this is where I believe I received my start in the music business. My sister loved it too but she did not get the bug like I did.
Whenever I go by I always hope in my head there are kids inside loving it the way I did more than 10 years ago!

This review is for the Staten Island Music Together Family Classes and not for private lessons or other classes.
If you're the new parent of an infant, the baby class is a good option. It's an easy going environment where you can meet other parents. I'm not familair with other Mommy (or Daddy) and Me classes, but I imagine the benefits are similar. In regards to the "musical" aspect, I think that's all "marketing" talk, but if my kids turn out to be like Yo-Yo Ma, I'll be sure to update my post.
On the flip side, I don't think the class is well suited for preschool children. The space is tight and the class is tailored around the younger children, so the older ones are less engaged. Most are there because they have younger siblings in the class.
However, thie biggest problem has to do with operations. The classes are advertised as 45-minute classes, but they're more like 25 to 30 minutes. Also, classes get moved or cancelled without notice (and without apology). It's not uncommon to show up and the doors are locked and parents are outside scratching their heads. Also, email -- with the exception of billing -- are rarely answered.
All in all, good for babies and patient parents; not so good for preschool kids and parents who don't like to run around in circles (except for in class).
