I am very reluctant to post a negative review given the potential impact to the owner and employees, but I need to share the my story of theft by of one of the employees at Murray Cleaners.
Last week, I decided to use Murray Cleaner's for the first time. A few minutes after dropping off my clothes, I was trying to enter the subway at Chambers Street station and immediately realized I forgot to take out my EasyPay Express Metrocard in one of the pairs of dress pants that I wore the previous day and dropped off at Murray Cleaners. In case you're not familiar, Easypay Express is a Metrocard that is linked to your credit card and automatically refills below a certain level.
So it wasn't a big deal when the pants were dropped off at my apartment a few days later without my Easypay Express is a Metrocard. However, when I went logged into my online account to report my card lost and request a replacement, I noticed that someone had been using my Easypay Metrocard starting in the evening after I dropped off my pants at Murray Cleaner's. On my MTA account, I can see the exact time and stations where each card is used. The pattern speaks for itself:
-The first swipe was at the Chambers Street station, the closest to Murray Cleaners
-The following morning, it was swiped at Penn Station, 36 minutes before Murray Cleaners opens
-The following morning, it was swiped at Chambers Street station, 5 minutes before Murray Cleaners closed
-The same exact pattern occurred yesterday
-No swipes on Sunday, when Murray Cleaners was closed!
Is this usage pattern a coincidence? Either the owner or one of the employees at Murray Cleaner's is dishonest and a thief. I prefer to do business with honest people and I'm sure you do as well, especially with dry cleaning. An honest business wouldn't do this to their customer
I'll be happy to update this post if anything changes.
