Mount Vernon High School

I attended this school after being a high achiever in elementary and middle school... and this school DIMINISHED my drive and motivation to excel academically. Wonderful teachers who try their very best, but everything else sucks: the security SUCKS, guidance counselors SUCK, other students SUCK, policies SUCK, principals SUCK (notice I said principalS -- we had 3 in 4 years!) Yeah, the whole place is stifling. If you're an artist, writer, thinker, or anything out of the status quo, you will be discouraged from succeeding in any of these fields. If you're good at basketball, though, consider this school your path to money and fame. They only respect athletes and not intellectuals. Damn shame. Also, they need to do something about the excessive violence.

Worst high school EVER.

As a former student of this school..
Class of 2008: I find it a horrible place to spend 4 years..
Unless your on the football or basketball team, then you get treated and disrespected as if you were scum.. it was just sad to see some great teachers stuck in that horrible school.. no support as a student, treated as a number.. don't advice even my enemy to go to that school.. Too much to get into honestly.. POINT! Bad school...

As a social worker who works as an advocate for students who attend this school ...it is absolutely horrible. The guidance department and administrative staff do nothing to promote the well being of these children. I am disgusted how this school works and advise any parent to steer clear of placing your child in this school. I admire the teachers who have to work under the supervision of people who have no professionalism whatsoever.
