I graduated from Scanlan year 2005. I started my freshman year at Cardinal Hayes High School and transferred here in sophomore year. I have had about 5-6 family members go to this school after me. Young people of all ages, brothers, sisters, and cousins. This school has teachers in it that are passionate about their students. This school is so good that students who have graduated from here go to college and come back to teach at this school. They take the state exams called regents very seriously here. The teachers even stay after school and help out the students that might not be getting the material. There's also a lot of clubs and sports teams that students can join where they have fun and socialize amongst themselves. If the kids are having a miserable experience in this school it's most likely because they have a problem following the rules. Even then, compared to other schools they give the students chances instead of straight out giving them detention. A lot of times the kids here take things for granted. Going to multiple buildings and areas for class help make this school feel as close as possible to the college life. The tuition is also affordable. It's a smaller type of school and sometimes that's better because your kid gets the attention they deserve from their teachers. The kids also get a sense of community and friendship since they all know each other. I have friends from Scanlan where we talk till this day on a regular basis. Our memories of Scanlan were great. And I know my family members also agree because we still talk about our adventures at Scanlan till this day.

A public school with a tuition. There is a very bias disciplinary code. No matter the situation the students need to feel safe in the school, if safety is an issue then close the school. All students need to be protected equally not only those whom the principal chooses. The school spirit is low. The faculty, especially the new principal, are not involve in school activities to motivate our children. The teachers need to take charge of their classroom. Students are not easy, but teaching is a commitment.

What a terrible school terrible staff terrible peers terrible classes, it's like they're not even trying. Don't send your kids here EVER. FYI, there are also no smoke detectors. If there's a fire during school hours and no one smells it, everyone's dead. And most of the staff don't care about students. They think they're "shaping proper young men and women" when all they're really doing is making the kids hate everything. Most of the staff have little to no sympathy and bad attitudes. Some of the teachers don't even deserve the title. Pitiful, really. If you want your children to have a good education and a safe social life, you're better off sending them to public schools. Save yourself, what like $8000? Plus $400 a month? No thanks.
