Some of the chefs in culinary are unprofessional, bias and hypocrites. The chefs are so quick to call you unprofessional and whatnot, but they are unprofessional themselves (cough Chef V cough). Since when is it professional for a chef/professor to go back and gossip about a student to another student who happens to be her friend? This college only has like 5 majors and they want over 6g's. You have to go without pell and tap for one semester at Monroe. Which means you most likely have to take out a loan and/or increase it. This 'college' isn't worth it honestly. I couldn't take another semester at that college. Fall 2014 is/was my last semester there. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the food.
Also, A LOT of the students are immature. They act like they're in high school. Definitely not your college is you want to step foot in an actual college environment.
Students- Most are ghetto and act like they're in high school.
Campus- The buildings are kind of spread of so you most likely would have to go from point A to point C.
Staff- Some are great, some can barely speak English and most of the chefs are bias.

If you was smart, you would avoid this college at all cost. First thing first. They only have like 4-6 majors and want nearly $7,000. You can go to a community college and have 15+ majors for $2500. The students in Culinary Arts are stuck up, especially those who are in the Culinary Team and/or Teacher Assistant. Chef V is a hypocrite, bias and unprofessional. He really needs to be fired. Since when is it acceptable to be making racial slurs in a professional environment? Since when is it professional to talk crap about a student to another student who happens to be his/her friend? Chef V really needs to be fired and replace. He forget things in culinary 4 and let the students take the blame for his mistakes (what a man) He's old and it's time for him to retire. The dean is fine, OUTSIDE the kitchen. When he's in the kitchen he can be rude. Chef P is probably most claimed to be the loudest and hardest, but he's actually very cool. Chef Moon is the nicest, but he can also be a douche. Shamel was cool as a TA, but when he got a position as a professor/chef he became arrogant.
If you're going for pastry, I highly recommend you go to a different college. The thing is, the chefs at Monroe College are extremely bias to those who are pastry. A ton of my friends who were in pastry at Monroe told me how they really don't do anything for the students in pastry. They have a culinary team, but not a pastry team. Culinary students get extra classes while pastry students get basic cake decorating classes.

WASTE OF TIME AT MONROE COLLEGE....ITS NOT A GOOD SCHOOL AND THEY ALL ABOUT DRAINING MONEY OUT OF YOU AND TAKING FROM YOUR POCKET!! DEGREE IS USELESS! DON'T COME HERE TO THIS MONROE COLLEGE!!! THEY DO WHAT THEY WANT ITS NOT A GOOD COLLEGE FOR ANYONE!! This school and it's professor you have to be very careful they will take advance...you and charge you a lot of money and financial aid and the education level is not worth it. Furthermore, you have to be careful when they give you your grades because they will try to make sure you fail classes to get more financial aid out of the government. Go to a Suny and Cuny school because Monroe College is a career college and the education is very poor and the professor don't care and they grading scale is not good and credits do not transfer to other schools. Colleges and other places see Monroe College as a gimmick and a ripoff!!! Students are paying a lot of tuition and money out of there pocket for expensive books and housing. When you graduated the college a lot of students say that they cat get a job with the degree from the college and they cant move on and be respected with the degree from Monroe college. The school is not accredited and it is not accredited well enough to be known as a good school. Most of it graduates pay a lot of money and get a useless degree form the school. Look it up there have been a graduate fro the school that sued the school for money that was paid and she was not given a job. The school advises a lot and everywhere on the train because its desperate people looking for a college degree thinking its easy to get one at Monroe College and doing that its most Latinos and Blacks that go to this school. The school is not diverse and its not a good school of good learning environment for education!!! DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL ITS A WASTE OF TIME YOU WILL REGRET IT TAKE IT FORM A FORMER STUDENT. STAFF MEMBERS SOME OF THEM SAY ITS NOT A GOOD SCHOOL AND THESE ARE WORKERS THAT DON'T EVEN GO TO THIS SCHOOL!! TRANSFER WHILE YOU CAN!!!

Good college but a lot of immature students that behave like high school students. As an undergrad I had to work with lazy students who weren't as motivated as I was. The King Graduate School is much better. The faculty is dedicated to helping their students succeed without a doubt but there is always room for improvement. One downside to this school is that many of the job fairs that the school facilitates are useless. There are students with undergrad and graduate degrees I'm pretty sure that no one went to college to work at target or chase bank as an entry level worker with low pay. This is the only issue that I have with the college, job opportunities are scarce and the job fairs don't help many people. I have been to two of the job fairs and they had two employers there that told me that they weren't hiring. My question was obvious...."why are you here?". This is something that needs to be improved. Current students as well as alumni should be rewarded for their time money and handwork with good and stable job opportunities that correspond with their major. I am glad that I am finally finished with my education now holding a MASTERS DEGREE in CRIMINAL JUSTICE. I hope that my degree turns out to be more than an expensive piece of paper and I can do some good in the world and make more money.
