This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Westchester. It is run by a Japanese husband and wife and has a nice homey feeling. They serve traditional Japanese food, not the fusion stuff that is being sold by most of the newer places. They don't speak perfect English, and part of the menu is not translated into English (as these dishes are particularly suited to the Japanese clients, i.e. nato). This is a true Japanese restaurant that mostly caters to Japanese people.
Price to quality - It is a steal. The guests that I've taken there have always been surprised by how little the check comes too after experiencing such a high quality meal. I recommend being adventuresome and ordering off the specials as much as possible. These dishes may be things you have never heard of unless you have lived in Japan, and I have frequently been extremely pleased by them. Also great are the Tamago soup, the Sunomo, and the Spicy Seafood Roll.
I fear the day the owner retires and closes their little restaurant. In the meantime, I recommend it wholeheartedly.
