My wife, a friend and I went to the Sunday jazz brunch a few days ago. The entertainment, food and drinks were superb. But the service was poor. A female waitress took our orders, but the waitress disappeared after delivering our drinks and one small plate order was overlooked. Someone (apparently from the kitchen) delivered our food orders. No one from the management staff, if any, nor another waitress or waiter checked our our table after our drinks were delivered. We had to summon a waiter in order to pay our bill.

This venue is beautiful with amazing music and pretty good food. Unfortunately we were sat next to extremely loud Australians who spent two hours screaming at each other which made it very hard to enjoy the music. I wish the venue would have some kind of policy of talking quietly during the music or perhaps have a quiet area at the front. It's hard to recommend the venue as a place to go and appreciate music due to the very very loud ambient noise but if you'd like a lovely live band as background music then this is your place.

For atmosphere I think this place is wonderful. They have a gorgeous painting of Lady Day at the entrance that takes your breath away. The music was fantastic. The food however was pricey and very limiting for choices. The portions were small. After walking around the city as a tourist I was famished and was looking forward to a filling southern meal. Although it was exquisitely tasty, my pork was a bit overcooked. When I sent it back for a new portion, it came back very fatty. I was in good company with friends and the staff was very knowledgable and friendly regarding historical Harlem. We had a very memorable evening.

October 30th 2014, first time in New York. First trip together. All the way from Utah. I wanted to take my lovely girlfriend wich she had told me that she had always wanted to go to a place where they played Jazz Music live. Well both my girlfriend and I had a expectacular experience. Our waiter was awesome. The food was great! Then we had an amazing connection with Laurence.(Manager) thank you so much. You definitely had an impact in our life's. I will definitely not forget. Thank you so much!!!

There is no place else like this in New York City.
My father’s birthday was last August. My mother and I decided that we just had to have a party for him at Minton’s. We had been there a couple of times before and always had wonderful experiences. So I contacted Minton’s and they were more than accommodating when I told them that I wanted to reserve a table for a large party (12 people).
Once we arrived, we were immediately seated in the front of the room, right near the band (as I had requested). From that point on, we were treated to great service, wonderful music and awesome food. My father was treated to a heartfelt “Happy Birthday” from the Minton’s staff, Manager and the Executive Chef. I would also like to single out the band’s lead guitarist who made my father and the rest of my table feel like family.
I don’t know whether to say it’s the food, the people, or the music but there is something about Minton’s that makes it a wonderful place but I recommend that you experience it for yourself. I plan on going to Minton’s again and again.
P.S. I highly recommend the macaroni and cheese, the low country seafood. All desserts were awesome.
