I was never personally exposed to Montessori schooling prior to my wife finding this wonderful place - though she had gone to Montessori as a child and so had some expectation. In describing it to me I initially thought, "well... structure is necessary, I'm not so sure." ... admittedly, with a total lack of understanding. In truth Midwood Montessori can be more structured than my own house! They are meticulous about their lesson planning and learning path as well as documentation/observation of their students. No parent teacher meeting is fluff. All hard and interesting often pleasantly surprising details about your child's independent adventures through inquiry, socializing and learning. It's an amazing place that my daughter's share a truly amazing connection with (it has single-handedly kept my family from moving outside of NYC - and was thrilled to have had our second child attend as well. +1
