Mid-Manhattan Library

Decent place to find books. The only problem is that it smells really bad here.

Up until today i never thought id have to give a public library a bad review but after the experience i had with this location today, i feel it needs to be known what kind off ignorent, unprofessional, lazy and downright awful people that work there, as someone who normally goes to the grand central location which is completely opposite this is was a complete shock. When checking out a book a still yet to be solved issue arose with my libary account regarding a ridiculously high amount of fines that up until today at this location i had never heard about. Apparently a account with my same name was opened and a 147$ worth of fines were run up. Insted of helping me with the situation and explaining the girl decided to say "well maybe you should pay your bills" among some other degrading comment which inwont get into right now, at that point i went over to the supervisor and sadly she was even more unprofessional and completely disrespectful going as far as saying " dont get mad at me because you cant afford to pay for libary books sir thats your problem not mine" this comes after me not asking for anything but for info regarding this so-called account that noone has yet to explain anything about and as to why i even owe $. Now mind you just yesterday i took out a book at another location and had absolutely no problem, very interesting.. Due to certin statments made and the way certin things were done i am following up with upper management about the situation and a full on investagation is too be done on the 2 people, as to why im doig this review, is because nobody, regardless of any situation should ever be treated the way i was today and might i add that after all that security as i walked out weny through all my personal belongings in my back pack claiming its standerd procedures for anyone with bags (even tho 3 ppl with bags walked by) not sure why going into small side pockets which cant rven fit a paperback book was necessary..

It’s a quiet, spacious, public place. I love it for reading, learning, and focusing. Desktop and laptop computers are available for use in the Library. You’re welcome to bring your own computer. Saturdays and Sundays are crowded. Wi Fi and electricity are available free. Staff and Security are all helpful.
