Michelle is awesome!! She did a private class for my best friend's wedding weekend. The bride (along with her bridesmaids) had such a blast. It was a great way to relax, focus and get a little sweat and stretch in before the big weekend. Thank you Michelle for such a great memory!

I attended Michelle's Mommy and Me classes starting when my son was about 4 months old. We attended the Wednesday morning session. As a mom who lives out of a stroller, it was very helpful that there is a ramp to the front door, elevator access and stroller parking in the waiting area. In the waiting/receiving area, Michelle has two changing stalls with seats should you want to have privacy to nurse and it was a quiet place to step away if needed. I brought my own mats and a swaddle blanket and later a large towel to cover my son's mat, but there were lots of mats of various thicknesses for mommies and babies to double up to create a cushiony space.
Michelle creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere starting each class with each mom introducing herself, her child and something new that was happening with the child or something else on your mind. It really created a sense of community and allowed the moms to get to know one another (and their children) as well as create a space to share or seek information from other mothers. Michelle teaches a class that is fun for both mom and baby. Postures flow from one to the next so you get to attend to every part of your body; Michelle includes attention to the baby too with baby massage. She uses her childhood sock monkey, Kingsley, to help demo the pose/movement. Michelle has a caring and kind personality and it comes through in her teaching.
The class is geared toward mommies moving, but babies are taken along for the ride, become part of the poses or they nap on their mats. During rest, Michelle takes time to give a little head massage and apply scented lotion, which I enjoyed. I felt more relaxed after class for having moved and taking the time to do something for me and my son. I attended classes until my son was about 10 1/2 months old as he had started to master crawling and liked to crawl to visit other babies during class. Each child is different and some will just sit and play with a few toys while mom does some yoga so I think it is up to mom to decide. We enjoyed the classes and I would highly recommend any mom who would like to start their yoga practice again or begin a practice to regain strength to meet the demands of early motherhood to attend one of Michelle's classes.

Michelle is a star and gem for Jersey City (and surrounding communities)! I've been practicing with her for many years (regular and pre-natal yoga) and I've never met a more personable, professional, fun, and positive yoga teacher in my 15 years of yoga experience. She always has a hug to share to new and old friends, good advice to lend and everyone always leaves her classes feeling refreshed. Her new expertly designed studio is so relaxing and reflects her love of yoga practice. You will not be disappointed - try her class today!

Michelle Timek Yoga is a standout option for those who seek a both a good stretch and a healthy (but not preachy!) reminder to practice compassion and kindness towards self and others. Having practiced with Michelle for the past 6 months+, I have noticed a marked improvement in my physical flexibility and sense of calm. My husband has also taken classes (both private sessions and group) to aid in his preparation for a recent marathon and found Michelle's ability to pinpoint beneficial yoga poses invaluable.
As a teacher, Michelle's style is compassionate & gentle while exuding strength. She offers many variations to accomodate all skill levels and is extremely approachable as a teacher. I've been to other studios where I get lost in the instructions, but with Michelle, the class guidance is just enough to keep everyone moving safely without becoming overwhelming or taking you out of the moment. At the same time, Michelle is extremely knowledgeable about anatomy so I always find myself learning something new.
The studio space itself is stunning - cozy, warm, clean, and full of gorgeous greenery to bring nature to each practice. It is fully equipped with blocks, straps, mat cleaner, etc to enhance practice.
In short, Michelle is one of those people who make you think - "wow, this person found exactly what they were meant to do in life." I'm so thankful she is set up in Jersey City and encourage you to give her studio/classes a try. You won't regret it!

I took several classes with Michelle - loved all of them, especially the Relax class. Michelle is always welcoming and positive, her great taste in music contributes to magical environment that she creates during every class. I see students of various yoga experiences and ages in the same class and everyone seems to enjoy it. Michelle is also a queen of prenatal and mommy and baby yoga in Jersey City. She also teaches Waterfront yoga during summer months and some fun workshops abroad. I can't recommend her enough!
* The studio moved from 10 Regent St. to 150 Bay St. recently. The new studio is so trendy and cool.
