I joined also paying a year upfront, and they just closed this week. I sent an email about getting a refund but no response yet.

Great little gym, small but very clean with a great staff that is beyond helpful, the other reviews are ridiculous. There is a clear ongoing effort to improve the place by the management. If your serious about getting in shape and working out this place is more than what you need at a insanely cheap price for an ny gym

- Terrible #124316
I signed up for a membership only because it is cheap and within a few blocks of my apartment – but now I wish I did not. Here are the cons – for those considering joining (I wish I knew these before I joined):
- No A.C. (Yes, that’s right - the heat in the afternoon is almost unbearable)
- No water (No water fountain, you have to pay the $1+ for a bottle of water)
- No towels (You have to pay to use towels – not free like at most gyms)
- No cleaning solution / products. (Most gyms have paper towels and cleaning solution to wipe down the machines post workout – not this place)
- TV is turned mainly to Spanish speaking stations – you have to beg to get a morning show on in the AM.

NO FRILLS is a generous assessment. You'll be told it's a "Korean model" but that's somehow their way of saying "We cut corners everywhere."
Pros: Inexpensive. Large, well-lit space. No crowds. Friendly staff.
Cons:
Most weights are in kilograms. (Some have stickers that convert the weight to pounds, but many don't.)
The machines are shoddy and not maintained.
No wipes for the machines. A single spray bottle of alcohol and a roll of brown paper towels instead. At the front desk, far from the weights and machines. So nobody uses it. THIS IS A SERIOUS SANITARY ISSUE. Wipes for machines are plentiful in every gym in the country. Why not this one?
No towels. Actually, tiny, tiny, useless hand towels are for RENT for ONE DOLLAR EACH.
No water fountains. THIS IS A GYM. People who exercise need water.
No sinks or toilets in the tiny shower/locker room. (Toilets and sinks are in a bathroom elsewhere.)
Big pile of junk/construction materials sitting at the back of the gym, on the floor, for 6 weeks now. Not moving.
Paper towel dispensers are almost always empty.
All mops/brooms/cleaning supplies are piled into one of the bathrooms. Although the gym is big, they don't have a spot for this stuff??
Classes are NOT included in the membership price, at all.
This place was very poorly planned, and since they've opened a few months ago they've not addressed a single issue listed above.
