- Poor #13537
I was planning on doing my kids birthday party here so they can have fun at the playground and see some animals, but instead when we visited we were just saddened. The animals are obviously not take care of properly as many of them have bald spots; the turkeys are enclosed in a tiny space and for such big birds they need more room to run around; there was no sign of food or water containers for them. But the saddest part was the horse. Another visitor advised us he was blind and had been there for many many years. Poor thing has been wearing the headcollar/halter for so long you can see the wear on his fur and skin of where the straps lay. He also seems to have a sort of old injury on his right hind leg where it looks like a bone is sticking out making him waddle when he walks. There shouldn't be any animals if they cannot be taken care of the right way. Its not just about giving them food and water at scheduled times each day, its about giving them love and care.

- Terrible #13541
I visited this nasty park on Aug 10, 2014 and was horrified but what I saw and how they DO NOT take care of the animals. It was 87 degrees and the poor pigs had NO water and were just laying in dirt and there was NOT a food bowl to be seen for any of the animals. How can these people live with themselves with these animals just dying out there. Its deplorable and inhumane and just sad in this day and age. I will for sure NEVER be returning to this park and something needs to be about these animals. DISGUSTING MERRILL PARK AND SHAME ON YOU :( :( :(

I've been going to this park for years since it is right around the corner from me. Went the other day with my niece to see the animals and saw a rabbit who's eyes were blood shot and who looked like he hadn't eaten. He also looked wet as if he was very sick and lonely. This made me never want to come to this park again. If you can't take care of the animals at this zoo than DON'T HAVE THEM there for people to look at and wish they could help. Or perhaps HIRE people to take care of the animals. These animals need love and attention not just to have their food refilled everyday... What a beautiful park this is but this just ruined this park for me, never going back again.
