Mermaid Oyster Bar

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this place, great atmosphere, the food is delicious, service is impeccable, the area itself is lovely. Happy hour is fun (who doesn't love 1$ oysters?!?). Happy hour menu has a lot of variety. This is our go to place everytime we come to New York.

Love this place, love taking the wife there for happy hour oysters. Book a table though it gets crazy crowded

Mermaid Oyster Bar is similar if not almost the same as its sister location in the East Village in terms of food and drink. They've got your dollar oyster happy hour, same happy hour drinks, and happy hour all day Mondays. The only major difference would be the clams. The clams at the West Village location are bigger and better - they're much meatier.

But, this location is also smaller. I'm not sure how packed it gets during prime happy hour, but my cousin got there at around 5. I got there at around 5:30 and the place was already half filled. The service here also isn't as great. It seemed like everytime we tried to get the waitress's attention, she would pretend she didn't see us.

I might come back if I was in the area and was hankering for some clams. But otherwise, I think I'll stick to their East Village location or perhaps another dollar oyster spot in the area.

Staff is friendly and food is delicious. It can get busy on the weekend dinner hours, but their bar will suffice until a table is ready. They serve east and west coast oysters which are fantastic, I prefer west. Their lobster roll is also great. Would definitely make this a spot to have dinner more than once.

The lobster roll here is so good. Very flavourful and satisfying! The fries are also very nice. The ambience is great and their dishes are pretty innovative. Only downside for me is that they don't have a dessert menu, but they do serve these dark chocolate mousses after dinner that are lovely as well.
