Bill and his staff at McKeon Funeral Home are professional, kind, compassionate, vigilant, and consistent. If you have never planned a funeral before, please do yourself a favor and entrust your loved one to the care of McKeon Funeral Home.
My brother died unexpectedly. I had never made wake and funeral arrangements before and was in shock. I was emotionally numb and felt as though I was kicked in the gut and couldn’t breathe to complicate matters further, I live on the west coast and my brother lived on the east coast. When I called McKeon Funeral Home from the west coast, Bill answered and made arrangements to obtain my brother’s body from the hospital while I made plans to fly to New York.
There are so many decisions you have to make, that are time sensitive, when planning wakes and a funeral such as casket, wake viewing times, church services, funeral cards, mass readings, meeting with the Monsignor, burial clothing, whom to tip, newspaper announcements, internment at the cemetery etc… at times it feels overwhelming. Bill made those choices so much easier for me. Bill presented my options with costs and offered fair and flexible payment arrangements.
When something came up Bill was there to take care of it. I didn’t order enough funeral cards and within hours Bill had another batch printed, laminated, and delivered before we ran out of cards. I didn’t have the deed to the family burial plot. Bill was able to secure the deed and make arrangements with the cemetery. Bill seems to effortlessly and efficiently resolve issues that come up; to me it seemed miraculous.
My brother was a police officer and I’m ignorant of the protocols of which pins and insignias go where on a police uniform. Thankfully one of Bill’s staff is an officer and knew protocol. He was even able to drive me to the police uniform store to get some things that were needed. I don’t even think I could buy anything from the store without being with an officer. I didn’t have my brother’s badge and one of Bill’s staff offered to lend his badge for my brother’s wake. Bill lives above the funeral home and I felt reassured knowing my brother’s body was protected day and night prior to burial.
The staff at McKeon Funeral Home was a stable anchor for me during a time of need. Everyone went out of their way to help in any way that they could a heartfelt thank you to all.
