After my boyfriend and I were done moving our things into our apartment with our friends; we all decided to go out and celebrate this new milestone in our life. This was a huge step for us and the best way to celebrate was to go out to the bar for a late lunch. Good thing about our new apartment in Maspeth is there are a couple of good bars in the neighborhood.
The one we decided to go to was Maspeth Ale House. It's your typical Irish Pub and it also has a separate dining area. Moving day was the first time I went to Maspeth Ale House and instead of sitting in the bar we all sat in the dining area. The set up is just like any other pub you go to. One side is the bar and the other side is the restaurant. Just like any other bars they had a variety of beers both bottled and on tap. That day I decided to get a Sam Adam's Octoberfest. It's one of my favorite seasonal beers. Then as a group we decided to only get two orders of calamari because we were hungry and looking forward to our sandwiches.
I decided to get the sliced steak sandwich and it was really good. I'm not only saying that because I was hungry at the time, but because it was true. The steak was cooked well and they sliced it really thin so that it's easier to eat. I love a good steak and onion sandwich and that's what Maspeth Ale House provided that.
So then the next day we liked the food so much that we went back there for our Sunday dinner. This time around we had no appetizers and instead of the steak and onion sandwich I got the cajun chicken sandwich instead. The night before one of our friends had the sandwich, but didn't like it because it was spicy for them. So I decided to try it and see how spicy it was. The sandwich was spicy but it was good and it was a manageable kind of spicy.
Overall Maspeth Ale House reminds me of the TV show Cheers. Everyone from the neighborhood goes there and it's a great place to go to. The good food is icing on the cake. Every neighborhood should have a great local bar to go to and that's what Maspeth Ale's House is.
