I have used Marie Nails many times in the past without complaints but my last experience was awful. On Friday the 22nd I visited the Nolita location and sat with Sarah. Seemed pleasant at first. Showed her the design I wanted from their instagram page. She tried to match the colors as best as possible and asked what I thought, I started to say it is a little bit off but before I could complete my sentence indicating that I am ok with her choice, she then shoved the color wheel into my hand and said you choose your own colors. I calmly set it down and said I am fine with the colors. There was no conversation for the next 45 mins with the exception of indicating when to put my fingers under the UV light and at the end asking if everything is ok. My design did not resemble that of the instagram page but did not complain and still left a $10 tip on a $55 bill.
3 days later which is Monday 25th, the gel on 2 nails started to lift and by Wednesday 27th, a 3rd nail. Less than a week. I was not able to go in immediately to have it repaired because of my work schedule and decided to go on my day off which was Saturday 30th. Arrived and the receptionist seemed understanding and apologetic and enquired whether I went to the beach or pool, or had done excesive scratching, all of which I indicated no. She then asked if I had gel or acrylic from elsewhere prior to getting my nails done, I said yes to having gel extensions. Her response was that could be the reason for the lift but cant say with certainty. My nails were cleaned, filed and buffed by the Marie Nail technician Sarah prior to applying the cal gel.
I got the 3 nails repaired but lost one of the designs which I initially paid for but was ok with given the time constraints. At the end of the session I was asked to see the receptionist and then handed a bill of almost $13. I asked about the repair policy and was told it is up to 7 days and that because I came on the 8th day, I am being charged. I explained my work scheduled and was told that I should have called to indicate the problem. I then went on to say I did not call or even think of calling because I never anticipated that Marie Nails would not honor the repair given the time frame. I paid my bill and still gave the technician a $5 tip.
I left with a feeling of disgust and anger. Not only did I loose a design which I paid for but had to also pay to have the 3 nails repaired for a job done within a week.
No customer appreciation or ownership of fault. It is sad to say that I was seen only a dollar sign.
