ARCO Lamp made of PAINTED CONCRETE NOT MARBLE!!!

My experience with this store has been the worse consumer experience I've ever had! PLEASE, please, please READ this BEFORE you buy anything from Manhattan Home Design.

I ordered an Arco Floor Lamp in the white marble base over their website. Within a few hours of my order being completed I received what appeared to be a standard reply saying that the model I wanted was no longer available BUT I could get the exact same lamp in black if I wished. I was even offered a 20% discount if I accepted to change my order.

I was very disappointed that they accepted payment for something they could not deliver, so I declined the offer to change my order and asked for a cancellation.

Not only was I UNABLE to cancel my purchase, but I was basically bullied into settling for something else that I did not want in the first place, a black lamp.

With the prospect of loosing all the money I had paid for the lamp I accepted to change my order. However, before doing so I was assured that the lamp was TRUE to original specifications, etc. I had all this sent to me in writing before going ahead with my order change.

I received the lamp nearly a month later and to my horror the Italian Carrara "MARBLE" was in fact a painted CONCRETE BLOCK weighing over 160 Lbs! I was devastated to find out that I had paid over $800 (the cost of the lamp plus duty and shipping to my Caribbean address) to have a CONCRETE block, with unfinished paint, shipped to my home address!

I have been trying to speak with their costumer service for days. No one will reply to my emails or phone calls. The only person I can talk to is some one who claims to be a sales person who cannot help me!

Stay AWAY from this store! -

Update - I have contacted the owner of this business and reported exactly what had happened and asked for a full refund - including shipping cost from Miami to NYC - given that they were in breach of their contract as they sent me a product that was NOT TRUE to what they advertised on the website. To this date (22 of Sept 2015) I have not heard from the owner. What else can I say to persuade potential costumers to stay away from this "Business"?

As off the posting of this review, I have contacted the owner again via his g+ page. I asked him to do the right thing and simply refund me of my money since the product that had been delivered to my home was NOT true to what I had ordered over his website. I never received a reply..

So I am currently trying to fix an issue about a chair that was delivered to my grandfather. The chair is damaged and although I was able to easily place an order though a phone call I was told that issues and returns are not addressed through the phone under any circumstances. You must send and email and wait for what are most certainly template emails with no names attached.... Bottle line the furniture is beautiful but not constructed to the level the price suggests. And if there is an issue customer service is nonexistent.

This company is barely above the level of a scam artist. They sell legitimate products, but their main goal when selling to you is "how can I trick this person into buying this piece of garbage." The owner employs extremely unscrupulous marketing tactics, as evidenced by the fake review he posted here. He didn't do a great job at covering his tracks however, as he put his real name down as the reviewer. Take a look for yourself; "Daniel Levy" is the owner of this company, and here he is posting glowing reviews.

beware!! do not buy anything from them! especially an eames lounge chair! you will thank me!

every single person that works here is a joke! there's not 1 professional employee here that actually follows through with what they say. i purchased an eames lounge chair about 1 year ago and as soon as i received it i noticed a big discolored circle on the top back rest wood area. it stands out pretty bad. i immediately contacted their imaginary customer service and they assured me i would receive a replacement in 4-6 weeks. well its been a year and they don't even respond to my emails. i asked for the original customer service lady that was helping me and they told me she didn't work there anymore. i spoke to another "customer service" person by the name of john colt and he said my replacement never came from china so i would have to wait another 4-6 weeks. called back after 2 months of not hearing from anyone and what do you know, he doesn't work there anymore either! then i speak to another employee named ronnie i believe. he tells me nothing came in for me so he would have to order another replacement and also guaranteed me a phone call on monday to confirm everything. well what do you know, no one called me! i call back and they say he doesn't work there anymore either! this place is a damn joke. my 5 year old is more capable of hiring quality employees. the turn over rate here is worse then a used car dealership. so last week i call again and this girl answers and says she's gonna make sure "customer service" takes care of this problem. i spend about 20 minutes on the phone with her explaining everything. she says, "i will call you on monday with an update, please tell me your phone number". i say "are you sure you're gonna call me?" she says yes guaranteed. well im writing this review on wednesday morning and i still haven't heard back from her. also, no one has even responded to my email.

learn from my mistake and buy from someone else. you might get lucky here but why take a chance. if you get something defective or with issues, they will not honor their word and just give you the, "we have to order it from china and it takes 4-6 weeks for our containers to come in" spiel. then they won't call you and next thing you know its been a year and they have a completely new staff that isn't capable of much. do not be fooled by the reviews on google.

"everything" they sell is made and direct from china. most other websites selling these pieces of furniture get it from the same place! the eames chair sounds like its gonna crack when you lean back. absolutely no tilt or give whatsoever. its like a metal chair. the wood veneer on the ottoman is chipping on corners. its literally falling off. the rim of the wood veneer that goes around the leather on the chair and ottoman is discolored and not in a natural way. it looks like crap! this is more like a $300 chair including shipping at best! my advice is save your money and buy the real deal or buy a replica for under $500 so that way you could just throw it away after a few years if it starts falling apart like this one.

* Today is Feb 5th 2015. I will be updating my review on any progress or lack there of. I just sent them multiple emails.
