Mamma Lucia's

Adorable atmosphere and just around the corner from us, this place has become our favorite date night restaurant when we don't want to take the subway anywhere. The interior is cozy and warm, and the service is always fantastic. We've gotten free wine or other goodies from the staff and our portions are always too big to finish, but make great leftovers. The food is simple, traditional Italian fare, but not overly saucy or rich, which is exactly how it should be! I don't understand negative reviews, there are daily specials that have, at times, impressed us more than anything else.

Have never had anything but a great experience in this lovely neighborhood restaurant. The ambiance is quaint, old-school and very Italian. The food is simply delicious and authentic -- and I say that as grandson of immigrant Italian grand parents on both sides and a mom who spent most of her waking hours in the kitchen cooking the best Italian food that would rival the best Italian 5 star restaurants on either coast. That said, I can attest that Mamma Lucia's menu, preparation and presentation would make my sainted mom proud and happy that her son can still enjoy authentic Italian cuisine even after her passing.

I am now about to order a feast from Mamma L's for delivery. I'll update this review to report on whether or not the management can deliver their wonderful food with the same perfection as I have experienced a meal seated in their warm, inviting establishment.

I ordered the Shrimp Parmigiana. It was a fast delivery, hot when delivered, and it was good. The only issue was the shrimp still had the shell. I called, they said in the past customers have complained that it wasn't shrimp when it was, so they leave the shell on, however if requested they will remove it.

On the outside the place doesn't looks to be much but watch out this tiny restaurant has such big surprises! The atmosphere is warm and inviting and in addition the food is absolutely delicious! I actually recommend the Salmon! Service is at a good pace and also friendly as well as the owner, :) It is a place where my family and I go to whenever I visit!

Live a few blocks away from the restaurant for the past 34 yrs of it's existence and I can honestly say today I regret not having stopped by ages ago. Food was in abundance and delicious. Atmosphere is cozy and authentic. Owner has a GREAT sense of humor and made the whole first experience a very pleasant one. I recommend it highly. For those concerned with prices, they were moderate. Specials, however are low to moderate and make it a place you are comfortable frequenting.
